--------------- INFO ABOUT PRINTS --------------

It is important to us the image you purchase looks like the image you see. Because of that, we do not crop images. This means margins on prints may vary.

For example, as illustrated below, when you purchase a 16 x 20 print, it will be printed on paper that is 16 x 20 (or larger). But the top and bottom margins on a panorama print (that tend to be wider than higher) may be bigger than on a normal, non-panorama print. Simply cut the extra margin when matting / framing the print.

16 x 20 prints are printed on paper that may vary from 16 x 20 up to 17 x 25, but will never be smaller than 16 x 20.

We do not print borderless prints. At least 1/2 inch margin is left to ensure easy matting, mounting and/or framing. If you need larger margins, please indicate so when ordering.

--------------- ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER ---------------

Dan Carmichael has been a photographer for over 40 years. Born and raised in Southern California, Dan began taking pictures when given an old Brownie Box film camera as a child. He soon discovered he had a passion for photography and an eye for composition. This grew into a career shooting pictures for three Los Angeles area newspapers. But while doing so, he realized his passion was for fine art landscape / scenic photography.

Dan moved to North Carolina in 1983 to pursue a career in publishing and graphic arts, all the while staying fully active and involved in landscape / scenic photography. He soon discovered the incredible beauty of North Carolina, ranging in variety from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the fully unique Outer Banks. After all these years, Dan still stands in awe of North Carolina's varied beauty. And after all these years he remains fully committed to capturing the beauty, uniqueness and specialness that is North Carolina. He has been a resident of North Carolina ever since.

Dan has been recognized as one of North Carolina's most-talented landscape / scenic photographers. To this he says: "There are many excellent landscape and scenic photographers in North Carolina, some I stand in awe of. I am just happy to be counted among them. I am happy to have gained a reputation as an excellent photographer."

Dan has spent years traveling the entire state of North Carolina, passionately devoted to recording and preserving its beauty with his cameras. He has been privileged to take pictures for and work with the people at various magazines such as Our State and Signature.

"The reason I take pictures is not only to personally experience the beauty of nature, but to ensure others can too. Nature is enchanted and extraordinary, beautiful and romantic. It is of a spirit that is inside all of us. It is something that strengthens all of us. It is something that we, too, should strengthen and preserve.

"Landscape / scenic photography can be lonely and peaceful, yet mystical and exciting. The experience of seeing the rising sun just breaking the horizon or of raindrops exploding as they fall upon the petals of a beautiful flower is inspiring. It is something that allows us to leave the hustle and chaos that is modern life behind and return to our roots. It is something that reminds us of who and what we are. It is something we all need to experience on a regular basis.

"Through my images I hope others will experienced that, too. I hope others will be inspired to break away once in a while, to breathe the fresh air, to enjoy the incredibly beautiful music of silence while sitting on a mountain top, to return to the roots of their existence and renew their spirits."

"I hope you enjoy my fine art images," says Dan. "Hopefully they will evoke the same emotion in you they do in me - a love and appreciation for the unique and special beauty that is North Carolina. A beauty that is both historic and contemporarily inspiring at the same time. There is a spiritual beauty here. North Carolina is an exceptional place like no other."
